Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Merriweather (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohammad Abdisheik Hassan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merriweather comes into the arena with Change blaring out of the sound system. Hassan has chosen Akon - Mama Africa (Remix) as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merriweather takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hassan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hassan throws a strike aimed at the side of Merriweather's head but Merriweather avoids it well.
Hassan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Merriweather. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Merriweather is looking to regain half guard here but Hassan keeps moving and retains side control.
Hassan throwing strikes but Merriweather manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hassan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Merriweather thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hassan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Merriweather is really struggling to control Hassan but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Hassan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hassan.
Merriweather lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hassan!

Hassan is in a horrible position here. Merriweather smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Merriweather working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hassan turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Merriweather off and cradles Hassan's limp body as Merriweather celebrates with his corner.
