Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Larichev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Garret Hawk! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawk shoots and misses letting Larichev counter with a right hand. Hawk misses with a takedown attempt and Larichev counters with a stiff right hand. Hawk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hawk lands in his opponent's guard. Hawk slips nicely into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Larichev wants to control but Hawk is keeping busy.
Hawk tries to pass to full mount but Larichev defends it. Hawk is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Larichev has managed to free his arm - good work. Hawk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Larichev keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larichev is trying to get back to full guard. Larichev is working hard here to advance position. Hawk is trying to control. Larichev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hawk is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Larichev defends it well. Hawk frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Hawk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hawk has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Larichev is forced to tap!
