Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Old Greg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Old Greg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Hunt!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Old Greg has been cut.

Greg drives through with a takedown into guard.

Greg is fighting to break Hunt's control of his arms but Hunt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Greg is nestled in close to Hunt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Greg is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hunt is just riding it out for now. Greg eventually gives up the hold.

Greg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Greg is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hunt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hunt has escaped and now he's on top!
Hunt is pushing down on Greg's leg trying to pass to half guard. Greg is fighting to maintain full guard but Hunt has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hunt slips a nice elbow through Greg's hands, connecting with Greg's forehead.
Hunt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Greg is looking for a sweep. Hunt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Hunt wants to control but Greg is keeping busy.
Greg thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt wants to improve his position but Greg is controlling well.

Hunt is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Greg is staying active.

Greg drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hunt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Greg has Hunt in his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hunt passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Old Greg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Greg is trying to get back to half guard.

Hunt stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Hunt stuffs the takedown attempt from Greg. Greg gets slowly back to his feet.

Hunt clinches up against the cage.
Hunt lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Hunt shoots for a double leg takedown but Greg sprawls well. He's pushed Hunt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Old Greg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Hunt.

Greg has his foot on Hunt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hunt works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greg accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Greg tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunt is retaining full guard.
Hunt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Greg makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Greg.

Greg had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hunt is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Greg Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hunt's back instead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Greg cracks Hunt with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Hunt from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Greg.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Greg fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hunt sprawls well initially but Greg persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Greg connects with a nice short shot to Hunt's temple.
Hunt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Greg is working away from the top position though.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Greg lands a nice short elbow.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Greg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
