Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gennaro Gatusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Alvarado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gennaro Gatusso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Alvarado!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarado just misses with a punch to the body.
Gatusso gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alvarado counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Alvarado pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

and Alvarado counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvarado throws a good cross that connects.
Alvarado looks to land a right hand but Gatusso moved out of range.
Max Alvarado is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gatusso avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Alvarado lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gatusso circles away quickly and effectively.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Alvarado cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alvarado misses with an uppercut.

Gatusso has his takedown stuffed
and Alvarado counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

A looping hook to the body misses from Alvarado. Gatusso does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Alvarado connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Alvarado counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Alvarado comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Alvarado missing with a left hand there. Gatusso was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Alvarado dominated that round.

Alvarado misses with a right hand

so Gatusso counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gatusso thows a big elbow that misses.
Gatusso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alvarado's guard.
Alvarado really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gatusso. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gatusso wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alvarado keeps working.
Gatusso not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gatusso wants to take a breather but Alvarado is having none of it.
Gatusso works his way into side control.
Gatusso tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarado gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Alvarado tries to buck Gatusso off but Gatusso takes his back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gatusso is persistently looking for the submission but Alvarado is defending it well.

Gatusso is working for a rear naked choke. Alvarado is not defending it well and Gatusso has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Alvarado refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Alvarado's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gennaro Gatusso!
