Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Borgstein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brunon Rzodkiewka! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rzodkiewka misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Borgstein wants to clinch and Rzodkiewka moves into the clinch. Borgstein looking to throw knees to the head but Rzodkiewka is blocking nicely.
Borgstein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rzodkiewka tries for a takedown but Borgstein sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rzodkiewka closes the distance but Borgstein moves to the side and Rzodkiewka takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Brunon Rzodkiewka has been cut. Borgstein closes the distance and pushes Rzodkiewka back into the cage. Borgstein throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rzodkiewka blocks it with crossed arms. Borgstein is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Rzodkiewka turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Borgstein is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rzodkiewka is controlling him well. Rzodkiewka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Borgstein keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Borgstein is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rzodkiewka asserts his dominance and retains side control. Borgstein gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Borgstein moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Borgstein kicks Rzodkiewka off and gets to his feet. Borgstein avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rzodkiewka moves to clinch but Borgstein breaks away and Rzodkiewka takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Rzodkiewka has his takedown stuffed and Borgstein counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Nate Borgstein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brunon Rzodkiewka.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Borgstein seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Borgstein winds up and cracks Rzodkiewka with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Rzodkiewka looks gassed! Borgstein has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Rzodkiewka defend it? Borgstein steps over the head and cranks it - Rzodkiewka is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Borgstein!
