PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Shcloff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rick Shcloff was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Bott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Shcloff!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bott misses with a takedown attempt

and Shcloff decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bott's guard.

Bott escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shcloff gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bott controls Shcloff momentarily but Shcloff frees himself.
Shcloff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shcloff misses with the ground and pound.
Shcloff misses with the ground and pound.
Shcloff creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bott sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Shcloff in side control, throwing shots but Bott defends.

Shcloff throws an elbow but Bott slips to the side and avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Bott's face as Shcloff controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bott struggling a bit here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shcloff wants to control but Bott is keeping him busy.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Shcloff working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Shcloff has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shcloff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bott keeps working.
Bott can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Bott tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Shcloff looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Sloppy strikes there by Shcloff.
Bott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shcloff on the ground.
Shcloff takes a little break here. Bott wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Shcloff tries to score with some ground and pound. Bott controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Shcloff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bott knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Shcloff postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Shcloff misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shcloff throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bott is looking to reverse the position.
The ground and pound from Shcloff seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bott is trying to get back to half guard.
Bott is breathing heavily.

Shcloff is working to tighten is grip on Bott's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Bott has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shcloff is really squeezing tight and eventually Bott passes out! Shcloff breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Rick Shcloff!
