Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Mckenny! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Rong! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mckenny with a poor takedown letting Rong counter with a right hand. Rong misses with a takedown attempt and Mckenny counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Rong has a closed guard, preventing Mckenny from standing up. Rong wants to sweep here but Mckenny controlling him for the moment. Rong is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Mckenny is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mckenny is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rong darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mckenny is trying to stand.
Mckenny looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rong seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Rong trying to control the action but Mckenny is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mckenny tries to kick Rong off but Rong keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Rong was stalling too much, according to the referee. Mckenny shoots and misses so Rong counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mckenny is breathing heavily. Mckenny escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rong trying to control but Mckenny is working from the bottom. Rong is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mckenny is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mckenny has escaped and now he's on top! Mckenny content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Richard Mckenny will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rong decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mckenny is looking to escape. Mckenny is refusing to be controlled, as Rong sits in half guard. Mckenny is looking to escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mckenny trying to control here.
Rong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mckenny trying to control but Rong postures up.
Rong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mckenny knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rong not doing much here.
Rong missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Rong trying to control from half guard but Mckenny is working away.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rong closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rong lands in his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rong tries to free his leg and advance position but Mckenny is retaining full guard. Mckenny is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rong is controlling him. Mckenny is trying to keep Rong in close.
Mckenny can't keep his opponent in guard - Rong advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Rong is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rong punching from mount but Mckenny doing a good job of avoiding damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Rong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Rong feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mckenny is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mckenny is looking to control Rong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mckenny avoid being mounted? Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rong passes the guard and advances to mount! Mckenny is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rong trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mckenny wants to control but Rong is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rong tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rong jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mckenny manages to avoid the submission attempt. Mckenny is looking to regain half guard here but Rong keeps moving and retains side control. Mckenny is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rong off and has taken his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mckenny looking for the choke from the back. Mckenny is looking for a choke. Rong gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Rong manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Rong trying to control but Mckenny is working from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Rick Rong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
