Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vitor Belfast! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vivinho Filho! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Filho looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Filho wants to clinch and Belfast counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Filho tries to clinch there but Belfast circles away.
Filho tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Belfast paws at him with a jab and circles away. Belfast closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Belfast lands in his opponent's guard. Belfast trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Belfast stands and throws Filho's legs to the side, diving into side control. Filho is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Belfast stands up. Filho wants to clinch up but Belfast keeps it at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Filho tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Belfast manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Filho tries to clinch but fails miserably and Belfast counters with a takedown into side control. Belfast moves into full mount! Belfast looking to secure an arm triangle but Filho defends it well. Belfast has hold of Filho's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Filho manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Belfast jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Filho manages to avoid the submission attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Belfast working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Belfast has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Filho is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Belfast yanks on the arm and Filho is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Belfast.
