Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Scope! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Lutter! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scope looks to score with a jab to the body but Lutter is just out of range. Lutter looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Lutter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scope trying to control but Lutter postures up.
Scope is pressing down on Lutter's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Scope is on top in guard.
Scope sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lutter's guard. Scope passes to side control. Lutter dodges the ground and pound from Scope. Scope looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Scope tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lutter dodges the ground and pound from Scope. Scope tries to advance to mount but can't. Lutter struggling a bit here. Scope creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lutter sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Scope tries for a kimura but Lutter is defending well. Scope has knee on belly and moves into mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scope thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scope is working for a guillotine from mount but Lutter frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Scope is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lutter has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scope looking to isolate an arm here. Lutter doesn't see it coming and as Scope extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Scope!
