Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deon Du Plessis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Du Plessis's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Fort Minor - Remember the name. Deon Du Plessis had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Rogers! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Du Plessis's head backwards. Du Plessis shoots in and bounces Rogers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Du Plessis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rogers is on top in guard.
Rogers tries to free his leg and advance position but Du Plessis is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Du Plessis trying to keep a closed guard but Rogers is proving a slippery customer.
Du Plessis wants to stand up but Rogers is controlling him. Rogers wants to control from the top but Du Plessis keeps moving. Rogers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers stands and throws Du Plessis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Rogers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Du Plessis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Du Plessis keeps working. Rogers moves into full mount! Du Plessis slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rogers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rogers looking to control but Du Plessis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rogers goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Du Plessis turns into him and now he's in Rogers's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Rogers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Du Plessis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Du Plessis trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Rogers manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Rogers wants to control from the top but Du Plessis keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rogers is pushing down on Du Plessis's leg trying to pass to half guard. Du Plessis is fighting to maintain full guard but Rogers has managed to sneak the leg through. Du Plessis is looking for a sweep. Rogers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rogers looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rogers is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Du Plessis is trying to stand up here but Rogers is controlling him well. Du Plessis is breathing heavily. Rogers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Du Plessis is squirming around, avoiding Rogers's attempts to control the action. Rogers looking to ground and pound but Du Plessis is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rogers with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Rogers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Du Plessis is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Du Plessis and Rogers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Rogers moves into full mount! Rogers trying to control but Du Plessis is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Du Plessis darts in trying to clinch and Rogers counters with a stiff right hand. Rogers throws a head kick but Du Plessis moves out of range.
Rogers pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Rogers misses with a series of wild punches.
Du Plessis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rogers tries to improve position but can't. Rogers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Rogers tries to roll over but Du Plessis keeps him under control. Du Plessis trying to control from half guard but Rogers is working away. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Du Plessis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Du Plessis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. A left and a right from Rogers both land. Nice combination. Deon Du Plessis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Du Plessis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Du Plessis fails in his attempt to clinch. Du Plessis closes the distance looking to clinch and Rogers counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rogers's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Rogers tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rogers tries to pull guard but Du Plessis holds him up against the cage and eventually Rogers drops back down to his feet.

Deon Du Plessis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Rogers.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Du Plessis working some nice short punches in the clinch. Du Plessis scores with an uppercut up the middle. Du Plessis gets through Rogers's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Du Plessis misses with a short punch on the inside. Rogers jumps guard but Du Plessis stands there with Rogers around his waist. Rogers gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Du Plessis lands an elbow just above Rogers 's eye. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Rogers has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Du Plessis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Du Plessis misses with an elbow strike.
Du Plessis is looking to control Rogers's arms but Rogers gets an underhook and turns him. Now Du Plessis has his back to the cage. Rogers changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Du Plessis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Du Plessis wants to clinch up but Rogers keeps it at a distance. Du Plessis throws a wild body kick that Rogers sees coming a mile off. Du Plessis darts in and clinches Rogers up against the cage.

Rogers jumps guard and drags Du Plessis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Du Plessis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rogers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Du Plessis has managed to get both his arms back between Rogers's legs - danger averted. Du Plessis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Du Plessis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Du Plessis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rogers is keeping the position for now. Rogers keeping moving, preventing Du Plessis from controlling successfully. Rogers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nick Rogers has got the better of the ground game so far. Rogers tries to pass to full mount but Du Plessis defends it.

Rogers works his foot free and advances to mount. Rogers has control of Du Plessis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Du Plessis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Poor strikes thrown by Rogers there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

A close second round but Nick Rogers will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Du Plessis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Du Plessis as he jumps to the side. Rogers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Du Plessis's waist but Du Plessis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rogers off to one side. Deon Du Plessis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rogers swats away the attempt to clinch by Du Plessis. Du Plessis tries to clinch up. Rogers avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Du Plessis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Du Plessis tries to clinch but fails miserably and Rogers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rogers keeps the fight on the outside. Rogers fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Deon Du Plessis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Rogers. Rogers pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Du Plessis back to the cage. Rogers follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Du Plessis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rogers tries to pull guard but Du Plessis won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rogers seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Du Plessis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rogers passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Du Plessis! Du Plessis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Du Plessis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rogers. Rogers is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Du Plessis is surviving well by controlling Rogers's body position as best he can. Nick Rogers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
