PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rikki Way (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hart Nox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Way shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Way fails with the takedown.
Nox thows a body shot but no joy.

Nox tries to keep at a distance but Way has taken the fight into the clinch.
Nox should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Way jumps guard but Nox stands there with Way around his waist. Way gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rikki Way. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It looks like Rikki Way has been cut.
Nox is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
The is referee keeping an eye on Nox - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Nox lands a left hand that snaps the head of Way backwards.
Nox misses with a knee strike.
Way tries to pull guard but Nox won't allow it.
Way is looking to control Nox's arms but Nox gets an underhook and turns him. Now Way has his back to the cage.

Way tries to score a body lock takedown but Nox shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Nox just leaning against Way, taking a breather.
Way fails to pull guard.

Nox breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Nox misses with a few strikes there.
Way tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nox swivels and escapes.
Way tries to clinch there but Nox circles away.
Way on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Way is breathing heavily.
Way is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nox scores with a body shot.
Donk. Nox catches Way right on the button with a cross.
Way misses with a takedown attempt - Nox sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nox looks to score with a jab to the body but Way is just out of range.
Nox scores with a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Way feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nox throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Way stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Way trying to control the position from guard on top but Nox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nox will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nox is on top in guard.

Way looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Way manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nox manages to get himself to full guard.
Way trying to control but Nox is working from the bottom.
Nox is looking to sweep but instead, Way has passed into half guard.

Way is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Nox has managed to free his arm - good work.
Way is keen to just control but Nox is a slippery customer.
Nox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Way looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Nox goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Way is rocked!
Hart Nox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A combination from Nox does no damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nox swings for the body but Way moves out of range.
A punch combination from Nox misses.

Way gets the takedown into side control.
Nox is trying to get back to half guard.
Way controls the position.

Way tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Nox is not content to let Way control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Way moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hart Nox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rikki Way's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nox misses with a wild combination.
Nox rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Way moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Way avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Way steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nox.
Nox stuffs the takedown attempt from Way. Way gets slowly back to his feet.
Nox misses the shot to the body.

Way feints and as Nox raises his hands in defense, Way changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Way decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nox, up you get!

Way in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Nox is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
