Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Outair Gaist! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Rivera with that takedown attempt. Rivera wants to clinch enabling Gaist to counter with a crisp jab. Nice sprawl there from Gaist as Rivera shoots in. Rivera misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mountain Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rivera on the wrong end of a nice jab. Rivera wants to clinch and Gaist counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gaist slaps away a takedown attempt from Rivera, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rivera doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gaist counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rivera thinking. Gaist is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rivera on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rivera closes the distance but Gaist moves to the side and Gaist counters with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera has his takedown stuffed and Gaist counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Rivera has a takedown stuffed. Rivera is breathing heavily. Gaist circles away from the clinch attempt and Gaist counters with a nice uppercut. Rivera misses with a takedown attempt and Gaist counters with a stiff right hand. Gaist lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rivera gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gaist counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rivera with a poor takedown and Gaist connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rivera takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Nice sprawl there from Gaist as Rivera shoots in. Rivera fails to land the takedown. Gaist jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Mountain Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gaist scores with a nice head shot. Gaist is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Rivera with a poor takedown and Gaist rattles Rivera with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Rivera tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Gaist dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Rivera stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Outair Gaist!
