Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Stout will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Steele! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Stout! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stout throws a nice looking combination but Steele bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Steele wants to clinch up but Stout keeps it at a distance. Stout closes the distance looking to clinch and Steele counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stout won't be happy with that. Steele has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Steele is looking to clinch but Stout is avoiding it.
Stout moves into the clinch successfully.
Steele fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Stout lands an elbow that stopped Steele in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like Jay Steele has been cut. Steele escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stout stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stout wants it to stay on the feet. Stout throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Steele throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stout's waist but Stout gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steele off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Steele. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stout closes the distance looking to clinch and Steele counters by moving into the clinch. Stout looking to slow down the pace here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steele tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stout just stands there and leans against the cage. Steele drags the fight down to the ground.
Steele has his feet on Stout's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. A decent looking body kick lands there for Stout. Stout will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sam Stout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stout darts in and clinches Steele up against the cage. Steele taking a breather. Steele drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stout gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Stout trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Steele manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Stout working for submissions but it's allowed Steele to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stout is trying to maintain the position but Steele is very close to passing his half guard. Stout is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Steele is keen to just control but Stout is a slippery customer. Steele is nestled in close to Stout, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Stout tries to get to full guard but Steele has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele seems to be working for a kimura but Stout defends the submission attempt. Stout tries to roll over but Steele keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stout is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stout can do anything to dispel that myth. Stout keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Stout tries to roll over but Steele keeps him under control. Steele works his way into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Steele cracks Stout with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Stout has given up his back.
Stout wants to get back to his feet. Steele cracks Stout with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Stout from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Steele has Stout flattened out and is raining down punches. Oooh a big shot gets through from Steele. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Jay Steele dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jay Steele's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Stout ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Horrible takedown by Steele or perhaps it was just good defense by Stout which made him look bad. Stout closes the distance looking to clinch and Steele counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Stout really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Steele. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Steele stands and steps away. Stout gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Sloppy strikes from Stout. Those never looked like landing. Steele tries for a takedown but Stout sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Steele fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stout avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Steele. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stout falls off balance throwing a combination
and Steele counters with a single leg into guard. Stout didn't expect that. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stout looking for a guillotine here but Steele defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Steele decides to return to a standing position. Stout throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steele shoots in looking for a takedown. Stout tries to sprawl out of it but Steele keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stout manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Stout throws a head kick but Steele moves out of range.

Steele moves to clinch but Stout breaks away and Stout cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Stout misses with a double jab.

Stout lands an elbow that stopped Steele in his tracks for a moment. Stout is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Steele is defending well for now. Stout looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Steele is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stout doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Steele. Stout is trying is best to control the position here. Stout wants to get back to his feet. Stout is looking for a sweep. Steele is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jay Steele overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stout won't allow Steele to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Stout. Stout tries to get to full guard but Steele has control of the leg. Stout is staying active underneath Steele, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Stout wants to get back to his feet. Stout looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Stout trying to hold on to Steele's head to control him but Steele postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Steele trying to control the action but Stout is working from the bottom. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Steele connects with a nice short shot to Stout's temple. Steele looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stout with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Stout keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Stout is trying to get back to full guard. Steele is keen to just control but Stout is a slippery customer.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jay Steele. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steele, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
