Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Klaus Hoffmann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Camoes! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Camoes scores a takedown into full mount! Camoes working Hoffmann over with strikes here. Hoffmann is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Hoffmann tries to hold on but Camoes pushes him away. Camoes thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Hoffmann is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Camoes is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hoffmann to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hoffmann shrugs it off. Camoes jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hoffmann manages to avoid the submission attempt. Camoes trying to control the position but Hoffmann is working away. Camoes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoffmann parries the strikes from Camoes easily there. Camoes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hoffmann to escape.
Camoes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Camoes tries for a kimura but Hoffmann is defending well. Camoes lands a decent elbow from side control. Hoffmann tries to bench press Camoes off him but Camoes keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Hoffmann's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hoffmann is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Camoes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hoffmann, who protects the arm well. Camoes is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Hoffmann looks calm but he's in trouble here. Camoes gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Hoffmann is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Camoes lets go of the hold and Hoffmann can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fabricio Camoes!
