Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Henrique Yamamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Popoy Bato! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamamoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Yamamoto is rocked! Yamamoto is breathing heavily. Yamamoto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bato counters with a good low kick that Yamamoto was not able to check. Oh Yamamoto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Bato clinches up with Yamamoto and pushes him back against the cage. Bato wants the takedown. Yamamoto is fighting it off but Bato persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Yamamoto's guard against the cage. Yamamoto keeping moving, preventing Bato from controlling successfully. Bato drops back looking for a leg! Yamamoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yamamoto manages to kick Bato off! Bato jumps back into Yamamoto's guard. Bato must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bato works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ground and pound from Bato. Bato really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamamoto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bato missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Yamamoto is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bato scores with a couple of nice shots. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bato drops an elbow to the side of Yamamoto's head. Bato is trying to control. Yamamoto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Bato lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Yamamoto quite badly. Yamamoto pulls Bato in close trying to recover. Bato postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Yamamoto on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Yamamoto doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Popoy Bato!
