A fine choice. Chase has chosen Gangsta Gangsta as his entrance music. Vincent Chase is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Chase. Chase misses with a looping right. Gomi takes the fight into the clinch. Gomi fails to pull guard.
Gomi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Chase lands a body punch in the clinch. Chase gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gomi.
Gomi takes an elbow to the forehead. Chase escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chase rushes Gomi and presses him up against the cage. Gomi manages to pull guard.
Chase trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom. Gomi controls Chase momentarily but Chase frees himself. Chase distracts Gomi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gomi looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chase throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gomi works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chase with a flurry of punches that miss. Chase trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gomi holds on and takes a little breather. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chase throwing strikes but missing. Gomi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gomi looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gomi is pulling down on Chase's head to control his posture. Chase wants to control from the top but Gomi keeps moving. Gomi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Chase's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Chase is trying to control the position but Gomi postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vincent Chase. A head kick by Chase misses and Gomi counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chase is trying to maintain the position but Gomi is very close to passing his half guard. Gomi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chase does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gomi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Chase wants to get back to full guard. Gomi sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Chase defending well though. Chase is staying active underneath Gomi, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Chase tries to roll over but Gomi keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chase is refusing to be controlled, as Gomi sits in half guard. Chase trying to hold on to Gomi's head to control him but Gomi postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Gomi performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Chase throws a hook to the side of Gomi's head but Gomi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Chase moves into range and clinches up with Gomi.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chase tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gomi avoids it. Chase landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Chase lands a good knee to the midsection. Gomi won't want to take too many of those. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Chase. Chase throws a punch but it's blocked by Gomi. Chase doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Chase has Gomi pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chase pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gomi tumbling to the mat - Chase dives into Gomi's guard. Gomi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Chase drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chase jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Chase looks gassed! Chase tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomi is retaining full guard. Gomi keeping moving, preventing Chase from controlling successfully. Chase avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Masakatsu Gomi will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chase is fending him off so far but Gomi persists. Nope, Chase circles away and we're back to standing. Gomi dodges the punch combination from Chase.

Gomi pulls guard effortlessly. Chase trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom. Gomi wants to sweep but no luck. Chase working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gomi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Gomi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chase in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Gomi looking to sit in guard and control but Chase gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Chase must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Chase trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gomi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Chase is stalling in the full guard. Chase stopping the sweep attempt from Gomi.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chase keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gomi's head. Gomi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Chase is pressing down on Gomi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Chase avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gomi is looking to work some ground and pound but Chase has wrist control. Masakatsu Gomi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gomi trying to control but Chase is working from the bottom. Chase throws a head kick that misses enabling Gomi to counter with a crisp jab. Chase tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gomi moves into range and clinches up with Chase. Chase is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Gomi lands a hook that snaps the head of Chase backwards. Gomi wants a takedown but no success here.

Gomi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Chase moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Chase ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Chase clinches. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Chase creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Chase lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gomi or not. Gomi avoiding damage as Chase throws knees to the body.
Chase has hold of one of Gomi's legs. Gomi is fighting the takedown attempt but Chase gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Chase not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Gomi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

He's got his arms around Chase's waist but Chase gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomi off to one side. Chase throws a head kick that misses and Gomi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Gomi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Chase misses with a leg kick and Gomi counters with an inside leg kick. Gomi shoots in and bounces Chase off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Gomi controls from within his opponent's guard. Chase looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Vincent Chase. I think Gomi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
