Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenneth Townsend! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joonatan Valasvatsa! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Townsend gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Valasvatsa to counter with a crisp jab. Townsend throws an off balance right hand
and Valasvatsa counters with a nice uppercut. Townsend with a lazy takedown attempt and Valasvatsa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A looping hook to the body misses from Valasvatsa. Townsend does a little dance to reset his feet. Townsend tries to clinch up and Valasvatsa counters with a left to the body. Townsend thows a body shot but no joy. Townsend tries for a takedown but Valasvatsa circles away easily and Valasvatsa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenneth Townsend. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valasvatsa advances to half guard. Townsend won't allow Valasvatsa to pass to mount. Valasvatsa is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round. Valasvatsa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Townsend gets back to half guard. Townsend wants to improve his position but Valasvatsa is controlling well.
Townsend is breathing heavily. Townsend makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Townsend. Valasvatsa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Valasvatsa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Valasvatsa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Valasvatsa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Valasvatsa tries for a kimura but Townsend is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valasvatsa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Townsend knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Valasvatsa lands a few punches from side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Valasvatsa has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Townsend is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Valasvatsa yanks on the arm and Townsend is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Valasvatsa.
