Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rick Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Piper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Piper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Pulver! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Piper misses with a takedown and Pulver counters with a left and a right that stings Piper. Piper with a lazy takedown attempt and Pulver counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Piper tries for a takedown but Pulver manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Piper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Piper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Piper is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pulver pulls him back up using the underhooks. Piper gets control of Pulver's arms and successfully pulls guard. Piper will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Pulver must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pulver looking to pass the guard. Piper throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pulver looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pulver has gone for a leg lock! Piper slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pulver's guard. Pulver wants to get back to his feet but Piper is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piper is in close to Pulver's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pulver wriggles free and stands up. Piper throws an overhand right that lands on Pulver's shoulder, as Pulver tries to avoid the shot. Piper shoots and misses and Pulver counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Pulver swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A combination from Pulver does no damage. Pulver misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Pulver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Piper with a poor takedown and Pulver counters with a one-two to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulver scores with a jab to the body. Pulver has Piper up against the cage in a clinch.
Piper tries for a takedown but Pulver manages to get underhooks.
Pulver has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Pulver gets underhooks to prevent Piper's takedown attempt.
Pulver wants to break free but Piper has control.
Piper tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pulver smiles and moves away.
Piper misses with a takedown attempt and Pulver connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Tommy Pulver is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Piper fails with the takedown and Pulver counters with a two punch combo. Piper is breathing heavily. Piper doesn't succeed with the takedown and Pulver counters with a nice uppercut. Tommy Pulver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pulver throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Piper.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulver will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pulver. Some wild striking there from Pulver.
Piper fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pulver to the ground. Piper is now in Pulver's guard. Pulver trying to keep a closed guard but Piper is proving a slippery customer.
Piper sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pulver's guard. Piper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Piper is trying for a kimura here. Pulver looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Piper wins by kimura!
