Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Carlos jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusty Shackelford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos jr comes to the cage accompanied by Jarrid Mendelson - The Ultimate Fighter. Shackelford has chosen Airplanes as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rusty Shackelford! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shackelford wants to clinch and Carlos jr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shackelford thows a leg kick but Carlos jr checks it and Carlos jr counters with a straight right hand. Carlos jr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Shackelford counters with a body kick. Shackelford wants to clinch and Carlos jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shackelford's guard. Carlos jr looking to pass the guard. Carlos jr trying to control but Shackelford is working from the bottom. Shackelford working for a triangle but Carlos jr defends it easily.

Shackelford has gone for a leg lock! Carlos jr slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shackelford's guard. Carlos jr landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carlos jr scoring with some ground and pound. That's four minutes gone in the round. Shackelford has control of Carlos jr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carlos jr regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Carlos jr will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Shackelford drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carlos jr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shackelford has Carlos jr in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shackelford throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carlos jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Shackelford is looking to take a break and control but Carlos jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shackelford thows a huge punch but Carlos jr dodges it nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Jose Carlos jr showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carlos jr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
