PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Gorodetsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damo Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns has chosen acdc-highway to hell as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Gorodetsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Damo Burns!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gorodetsky gets a takedown into half guard.
Burns wants to improve his position but Gorodetsky is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gorodetsky is thwarting Burns's attempts to control the position.
Burns won't allow Gorodetsky to pass to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gorodetsky moves nicely into side control.
Gorodetsky remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Burns tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gorodetsky with shots to the head and body - Burns looks very uncomfortable down there.
Burns is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gorodetsky sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Burns should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Burns wants to hold on but Gorodetsky pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gorodetsky controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Burns lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gorodetsky circles away quickly and effectively.
Gorodetsky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Burns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gorodetsky's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Burns looking to sit in guard and control but Gorodetsky gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gorodetsky will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Burns tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Burns wants to control the position but Gorodetsky says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vladimir Gorodetsky will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gorodetsky's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gorodetsky shoots in for a double leg but Burns sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Burns closes the distance and clinches.

Gorodetsky manages to break the clinch.

Burns scores a takedown into full mount!
Burns thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gorodetsky wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Burns.
Gorodetsky on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gorodetsky tries to get out of the position.
Gorodetsky throwing hammer fists to the chest of Burns. What's that going to do exactly?
Burns tries to control but Gorodetsky wriggling away.
Gorodetsky slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Burns tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Gorodetsky.

Gorodetsky pushes Burns off and gets back to his feet.

Burns forces Gorodetsky back against the cage and clinches.

Burns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burns doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gorodetsky counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gorodetsky.
Burns is breathing heavily.

Gorodetsky gets to his feet. Burns looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gorodetsky moves into the clinch.

Gorodetsky pulls guard.

Gorodetsky looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gorodetsky has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Burns off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Burns misses with a takedown

and Gorodetsky counters with a nice double leg into side control. Burns won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Burns being controlled for a moment.
Gorodetsky gets to mount! Burns was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Vladimir Gorodetsky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gorodetsky content just to control the position here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Gorodetsky dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Gorodetsky lands a nice shot to the head.

Burns is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Burns can't escape the position.
Burns tries to hold on but Gorodetsky postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gorodetsky controlling his opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Gorodetsky moves into the clinch.
Burns is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Burns takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gorodetsky's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Burns moves into the clinch.
Burns is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gorodetsky pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Vladimir Gorodetsky has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damo Burns.
Come on Gorodetsky - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Burns tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gorodetsky just stands there and leans against the cage.
Burns tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Burns lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gorodetsky pushes Burns off and scrambles back to his feet.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Vladimir Gorodetsky wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Vladimir Gorodetsky showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gorodetsky, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
