Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Altair Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ra Maya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Altair Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ra Maya!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Silva, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Silva throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Maya takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Silva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A punch lands to the side of Maya 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Donk. Silva catches Maya right on the button with a cross.
Silva bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Maya's head backwards.
Silva bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Silva cracks Maya with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Silva takes a swing at Maya's ribcage but misses.
Silva misses the shot to the body.
Silva throws a combination that misses
letting Maya counter with a right hand.
Silva misses with an uppercut
and Maya counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Silva throws an overhand right that lands on Maya's shoulder, as Maya tries to avoid the shot.
Altair Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva thows a left - swing and a miss!
Silva dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Silva tries to bum rush Maya with a series of wild strikes but Maya uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva throws a shot to the body.
A slow jab from Silva misses its intended target.
Silva lands a nice shot to the body.
Silva throws a predictable looking body shot
and Maya counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Silva leaves Maya with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Altair Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Maya counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Maya has gone for a leg lock! Silva slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maya's guard.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Silva scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Maya doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

so Maya counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Maya has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Silva wants to sweep here but Maya controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maya drops back, looking for a kneebar! Silva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Silva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Silva!
Silva stands up.

Silva throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Maya counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Maya prevents Silva from standing back up.
Maya is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well.
Maya throws a strike but Silva avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Maya is having none of it.
Silva wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Maya wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.

Maya drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maya being controlled here, momentarily.
Maya has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Silva has passed into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maya is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Silva's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Altair Silva will probably get the nod.
That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
The crowd cheers as Silva lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maya doesn't seem phased though.
Silva swings away with a body shot that misses
and Maya counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Maya.
Silva controls Maya momentarily but Maya frees himself.
Maya pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silva is keeping the position for now.
Maya drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maya has Silva in his guard.

Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Maya gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Maya is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!
Silva controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Silva works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Silva wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Maya uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Maya manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Maya looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva is wriggling around trying to escape.
Maya jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Silva is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Silva and Maya has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Maya swings around for an armbar but Silva sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Maya's guard.
Silva stays in close to Maya's body and controls the position.
Maya keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Silva is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Maya will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Silva tries to stand but Maya is controlling his head.
Silva trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Silva decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Altair Silva will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Maya counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Maya is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Maya drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.
Silva has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maya is proving hard to escape from.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Silva wants to control from the top but Maya keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Maya is retaining full guard.
Silva's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Altair Silva wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Silva punishes Maya's body with a nice straight punch.
Ra Maya is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Maya looks for a takedown but Silva sprawls well.
Silva throws a lazy uppercut
and Maya counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.

Maya drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Silva gets to his feet - Maya follows without any prompting.
Maya shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters circling - Silva throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ra Maya has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

so Maya counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Silva is looking to stand up but Maya isn't so interested in that idea.
Altair Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Maya thows a big elbow that misses.
And that's the end of the fight!
Ra Maya comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
