Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Anthony (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fergal Leary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Anthony might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Living in a Dream. James Anthony has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Anthony! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fergal Leary! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leary throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Leary tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Anthony manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Anthony looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leary is fending him off so far but Anthony persists. Nope, Leary circles away and we're back to standing. Leary throws an off balance right hand
and Anthony counters with a nice double leg into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Leary keeping moving, preventing Anthony from controlling successfully. Leary keeping full guard, as Anthony tries to pass. Leary is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Leary wants to stand and escape but Anthony is having none of it. Anthony really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Leary is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Anthony postures up in Leary's guard and throws a big left but Leary blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Leary misses with a combination
and Anthony counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Anthony. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Leary holds on and takes a little breather. Anthony is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Anthony trying to control the position from guard on top but Leary is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leary can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref stands the fighters back up because James Anthony just wasn't active enough. Leary throws a right and a left that Anthony avoids nicely. Anthony dodges the punch combination from Leary.
Leary throws out a loose jab but Anthony uses good head movement to avoid it. Anthony swats away the attempt to clinch by Leary. Leary throws a combination that misses and Anthony counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Anthony wants to pass the guard but Leary is keeping the position. Leary wants to stand but Anthony is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anthony slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Anthony wants to control from the top but Leary keeps moving. Anthony is breathing heavily.
The ref stands the fighters back up. James Anthony wasn't doing enough on the ground. Leary looks to land a combination but Anthony avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Leary throws a lazy uppercut
and Anthony counters by clinching up. Leary scores with an uppercut up the middle. Leary is working Anthony over against the cage. Leary working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. A short right from Leary. Leary wants to break the clinch but can't.
Anthony can't get the takedown.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Leary creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Leary. Anthony is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Leary pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Anthony. That's going to take a lot out of him. A frustrated look appears on Leary's face as he tries to break the clinch. Leary lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Leary lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Anthony backwards. Leary scores with a shoulder strike. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. A left hand lands to the body for Leary.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Leary. Leary scores with a shot to the side of Anthony's head.
Anthony is rocked! Leary throws a punch but it's blocked by Anthony. Oh Anthony is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Leary throws a head punch that misses. Anthony seems to have got his legs back now. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Leary creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Leary lands with a short head shot on the inside. A short uppercut from Leary. Leary lands a big right hand that drops Anthony! The killer instinct kicks in and Leary finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Leary!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fergal Leary!
