Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brick Tamlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Summers! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summers with a lazy takedown attempt and Tamlin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Summers misses with a hook to the body
and Tamlin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Tamlin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tamlin lands in his opponent's guard. Tamlin tries to free his leg and advance position but Summers is retaining full guard. Summers keeping moving, preventing Tamlin from controlling successfully. Summers being controlled here, momentarily. Tamlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Summers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Summers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tamlin defends well. Summers working for submissions but it's allowed Tamlin to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tamlin is looking to advance position but Summers won't allow it. Tamlin prevents Summers from improving his position. Tamlin is looking to pass Summers's guard but actually Summers recovers to full guard. Summers looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Summers is controlling Tamlin's posture. Summers is trying to control the position but Tamlin postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tamlin scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Summers wants to sweep here but Tamlin controlling him for the moment. Tamlin throws and elbow that misses. Summers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tamlin's guard. Nice move by Summers! Tamlin pulls Summers in to control the position. Summers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tamlin has his hands on Summers's head, controlling the position. Tamlin is looking to sweep but instead, Summers has passed into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tamlin gets full guard. Tamlin keeping moving, preventing Summers from controlling successfully. Tamlin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tamlin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tamlin tries to get out of the position. Summers trying to control but Tamlin is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Brick Tamlin wasn't doing enough on the ground. Tamlin digs a good hook to Summers's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brick Tamlin dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Tamlin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A clash of legs there as Tamlin blocks the low kick. A momentary lapse in concentration from Summers enables Tamlin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Summers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Tamlin won't allow Summers to sweep him here. Summers keeping full guard, as Tamlin tries to pass. Summers tries to land a sweep but no joy. Summers isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tamlin stacks Summers on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tamlin! Tamlin wants to take a breather but Summers manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Tamlin. Tamlin looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tamlin is posturing up here but Summers has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Tamlin tries to roll out but it's too tight and Tamlin has to tap! Slick submission there by Summers!
