Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cherubin gets caught flat footed, as Youzef shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Cherubin lands some strikes from the bottom.
Cherubin trying to control the position.
Cherubin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Youzef has passed into side control.
Youzef is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cherubin's shoulder. That is not cool.
Youzef sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Cherubin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Youzef is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Youzef is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cherubin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Youzef decides to stand back up.
Cherubin closes the distance and clinches.

Youzef pulls guard effortlessly.

What can Youzef do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

so Cherubin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Cherubin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Youzef swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cherubin has gone for a leg lock! Youzef slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cherubin's guard.

Cherubin wants to stand but Youzef is controlling the position.

Youzef postures up in Cherubin's guard and throws a big left but Cherubin blocks it.
Cherubin has control of Youzef's left arm, preventing Youzef from doing any damage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Youzef wants to control from the top but Cherubin keeps moving.
Youzef must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ulich Youzef has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Cherubin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Youzef to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Youzef is standing up over Cherubin. Cherubin looks to escape but Youzef dives into side control.
Cherubin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Youzef might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cherubin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Youzef cracks Cherubin with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cherubin tries to bench press Youzef off him but Youzef keeps the position.

Youzef throws a strike aimed at the side of Cherubin's head but Cherubin avoids it well.
Cherubin tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Youzef trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Cherubin doesn't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cherubin tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Youzef prevents Cherubin from getting the reversal.
Cherubin tries to lock up and control but Youzef gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cherubin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Youzef manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cherubin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Youzef has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cherubin has managed to get both his arms back between Youzef's legs - danger averted.

Well Cherubin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
