Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Van Hook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Ly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Hook comes to the cage accompanied by The Cure's Close To Me. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jimmy Ly was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Hook throws an off balance right hand
and Van Hook takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Van Hook motions for Ly to come forward. Van Hook throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ly takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Van Hook lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Van Hook falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ly lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ly takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Van Hook throws a lazy body kick
and Ly counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ly misses the body punch
and Van Hook counters with a three punch combo that has Ly backing up. Ly nods at Van Hook to acknowledge the strikes.
Van Hook lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ly circles away quickly and effectively.
Jimmy Ly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ly stuns Van Hook with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

You get the feeling that Ly really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Van Hook seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ly for as long as he can get away with.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ly's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kyle Van Hook.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ly crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Van Hook - the referee stops the clock and Ly gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Van Hook. Ly manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
