The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mckey shoots and misses
and Armstrong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mckey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Armstrong counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Nikkie Mckey has been cut.
Armstrong tries a head kick but it misses.
Nikkie Mckey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Armstrong misses with a low kick.
Armstrong throws a sloppy head kick and Mckey moves out of range easily.
Mckey has his takedown stuffed
and Armstrong counters with a single leg into guard. Mckey didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikkie Mckey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mckey is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Armstrong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Armstrong tries to free his leg and advance position but Mckey is retaining full guard.
Armstrong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Armstrong wants to get up but he can't break Mckey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Armstrong has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mckey to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Armstrong is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mckey pulls down on the head and he's put Armstrong to sleep! This one is all over!
