Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tuco Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tuco Mendoza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Jefferson! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jefferson connects with a jab. Jefferson looks to clinch and Mendoza counters with a shoot takedown. Jefferson fights it but they end up in guard. Jefferson controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendoza with a flurry of punches that miss. Jefferson keeping full guard, as Mendoza tries to pass. Mendoza looking to sit in guard and control but Jefferson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Jefferson is stalling in the full guard. Mendoza trying to control the position.
Jefferson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendoza swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mendoza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mendoza is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza prevents Jefferson from getting back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jefferson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mendoza wants to control from the top but Jefferson keeps moving. Jefferson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Mendoza wants to control from the top but Jefferson keeps moving.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jefferson tries to clinch but Mendoza moves away and Mendoza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jim Jefferson wasn't active enough on the ground. Mendoza swats away the attempt to clinch by Jefferson. A low kick from Jefferson misses and Mendoza decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jefferson's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Mendoza wants to pass the guard but Jefferson is keeping the position. Mendoza trying to control the position from guard on top but Jefferson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jefferson can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jefferson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mendoza trying to control but Jefferson is working from the bottom. Mendoza tries to free his leg and advance position but Jefferson is retaining full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jefferson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mendoza trying to control the position from guard on top but Jefferson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jefferson pulls Mendoza in to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mendoza throws a right hand that misses
and Jefferson counters with a nice uppercut. Mendoza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jefferson is fending him off so far but Mendoza persists. Nope, Jefferson circles away and we're back to standing. Jab, jab by Jefferson - just one landing. Jim Jefferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mendoza misses the shot to the body. Mendoza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jefferson counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mendoza wants to slow Jefferson down by chopping away at his legs. Mendoza misses with a takedown and Jefferson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tuco Mendoza. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jefferson throws a sloppy body shot
and Mendoza counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jefferson won't be happy with that. Mendoza working away. Jefferson tries to buck Mendoza off but Mendoza is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tuco Mendoza dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mendoza tries a head kick but it misses.
Mendoza with a lazy takedown attempt and Jefferson counters with a three punch combo that has Mendoza backing up. Mendoza nods at Jefferson to acknowledge the strikes. Tuco Mendoza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mendoza misses with a looping right. Jefferson wants to clinch and Mendoza counters with a takedown into side control. Mendoza tries for a kimura but Jefferson is defending well. Mendoza misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Jefferson can't do much from the bottom here. Mendoza postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza trying to control the position but Jefferson is working away. Jefferson is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mendoza is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jefferson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mendoza in side control, throwing shots but Jefferson defends. Jefferson is not content to let Mendoza control the position. Jefferson sneaks back into half guard. Jefferson keeping control of the position. Tuco Mendoza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mendoza is looking to take a break and control but Jefferson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendoza is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jefferson is looking to control Mendoza's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jefferson avoid being mounted? Mendoza is looking to stall here but Jefferson recovers full guard. Mendoza trying to control the position from guard on top but Jefferson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jefferson is controlling Mendoza's posture. Mendoza is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Mendoza looking to pass the guard. Mendoza is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mendoza tries for a takedown but Jefferson circles away easily and Jefferson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mendoza thinking. Jefferson fails in his attempt to clinch. Mendoza scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Mendoza trying to control the action but Jefferson is working from the bottom. Mendoza tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jefferson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mendoza wants to take a breather but Jefferson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mendoza. Mendoza trying to control but Jefferson is working from the bottom. Mendoza won't allow Jefferson to sweep him here. Jefferson is trying to control the position but Mendoza postures up. Jefferson wants to get back to his feet but Mendoza passes into half guard.
Jefferson is breathing heavily. Jefferson is not content to let Mendoza control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tuco Mendoza dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Mendoza shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Nice takedown defense from Jefferson. No joy for Mendoza on that attempt. Mendoza throws a right and a left that both miss. Jefferson throws a right and a left that Mendoza avoids nicely. Jefferson tries to clinch up but Mendoza circles away and keeps his distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jefferson looks to clinch and Mendoza counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mendoza. Mendoza trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mendoza controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jim Jefferson. Mendoza fails with the takedown and Jefferson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tuco Mendoza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendoza swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jefferson attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Mendoza shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jefferson is trying to defend but Mendoza finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jefferson wants to control but Mendoza is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mendoza seems to be working for a kimura but Jefferson defends the submission attempt. Mendoza performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Mendoza wants to free his trapped foot but Jefferson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jefferson is refusing to be controlled, as Mendoza sits in half guard. Mendoza passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jefferson! Mendoza throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jefferson is looking to get to half guard. Mendoza working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Mendoza manages to capitalize on a mistake by Jefferson to take his back! Mendoza gets his hands free as Jefferson looks to control. Jefferson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. I really don't envy Jefferson right now.

The referee is taking a good look at Jefferson as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Mendoza!
Jefferson wants to control his opponent's hands but Mendoza gets his hands free. Mendoza is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jefferson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jefferson for a finish. Mendoza scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Jefferson is looking for a way out. Jim Jefferson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jefferson is taking damage to the body and head. Jefferson takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Jefferson trying to control the hands but Mendoza won't let him. Tuco Mendoza is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mendoza slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

And that's the end of the fight! Tuco Mendoza showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mendoza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
