Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Peleus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris River (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peleus comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Mask Alexander The Great . River has chosen A Country Boy Can Survive as his entrance music. Alexander Peleus has the better chin. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Peleus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris River! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. River connects with a high kick. River tries to clinch up and Peleus counters with a single leg into guard. River didn't expect that. Peleus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Peleus wants to control from the top but River keeps moving. Peleus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard. River keeping moving, preventing Peleus from controlling successfully. River manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Peleus wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by River.
Peleus tries to lock up and control but River gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. River thowing shots but they're missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peleus looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Peleus is trying desperately to improve position. River unloads with some shots from mount but Peleus bucks and avoids them well.
River thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. River misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
River has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Peleus tries to lock up and control but River gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. River throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's two minutes gone in the round. River moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Peleus has worked his arm free - good work by Peleus!
Peleus is looking for a sweep. Peleus can't do much from the bottom here. River tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no River has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! River tries to move into full mount but can't pass Peleus's legs. River throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peleus takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
River throws a strike aimed at the side of Peleus's head but Peleus avoids it well. An elbow from River crashes against the mat.
River goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Peleus has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for River but great work by Peleus. River is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. River holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. River is looking to improve his position.
Peleus thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed River's head. Peleus seems to be working for a kimura but River defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. River slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. River is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Peleus with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. River looking to control.
Peleus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. River is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. River has his feet on Peleus's thighs here. He's pushed Peleus off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Peleus screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
