Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darren Fogerty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Rakusaba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rakusaba is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: David Bowie - Suffragette City. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darren Fogerty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Rakusaba!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fogerty swings and misses with a shot to the body

so Rakusaba counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rakusaba is looking to work some ground and pound but Fogerty has wrist control.
Fogerty looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rakusaba is one step ahead there.
Rakusaba stays in close to Fogerty's body and controls the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fogerty looking to control but Rakusaba passes into half guard.
Fogerty tries to get to full guard but Rakusaba has control of the leg.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fogerty is pressing down on Rakusaba's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fogerty looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rakusaba puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rakusaba is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Fogerty wants to control but Rakusaba is having none of it.

Fogerty wants to hold on but Rakusaba pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kazushi Rakusaba dominated that round.
That's time! Fogerty's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fogerty misses with a hook.

A looping hook to the body misses from Fogerty. Rakusaba does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rakusaba tries for a takedown but Fogerty circles away easily
and Fogerty makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fogerty is bucking up trying to escape but Rakusaba cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rakusaba controlling from the full mount.
Rakusaba trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rakusaba controlling the position easily from mount.
Fogerty can't escape the position.

Rakusaba tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fogerty is looking to improve his position but Rakusaba isn't that keen on the idea.
Fogerty is working hard here to advance position.
Rakusaba looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kazushi Rakusaba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rakusaba uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fogerty.
Rakusaba shoots and misses
and Fogerty counters with a three punch combo that has Rakusaba backing up. Rakusaba nods at Fogerty to acknowledge the strikes.
Kazushi Rakusaba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed right hand from Fogerty misses the target.
Rakusaba tries to clinch up but Fogerty circles away and keeps his distance.

Rakusaba closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fogerty quickly recovers to half guard.
Rakusaba seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rakusaba throwing shots but Fogerty is blocking nicely.
Fogerty is trying to maintain the position but Rakusaba is very close to passing his half guard.
Fogerty is trying to get back to full guard.
Fogerty trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Rakusaba manages to pass to mount!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Fogerty on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fogerty tries to get out of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kazushi Rakusaba was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Fogerty makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fogerty looks to land a right hand but Rakusaba moved out of range.
Fogerty jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Rakusaba gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Fogerty connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kazushi Rakusaba is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Darren Fogerty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazushi Rakusaba.
Rakusaba dodges the punch combination from Fogerty.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kazushi Rakusaba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
