Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koji Hisaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eiji Date! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hisaki wants to clinch up but Date keeps it at a distance. Hisaki lands a front kick. Hisaki closes the distance but Date moves to the side and Date counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Date fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hisaki throws a sloppy head kick and Date counters with a flying knee. Nice. Hisaki falls off balance throwing a combination
and Date counters with a left and a right that stings Hisaki. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hisaki tries for a takedown but Date circles away easily and Date counters by clinching up. Date jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hisaki walks away with a smile on his face. Date gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Date swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hisaki tries to clinch but Date moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hisaki shoots in but no luck this time. Hisaki tries to clinch but Date moves away and Date counters with a two punch combo. Hisaki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Date counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koji Hisaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Date is trying to break the clinch but Hisaki is controlling him. Date is trying to break the clinch but Hisaki has him pressed against the cage. Date escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hisaki fails to land the takedown. Date darts in and clinches Hisaki up against the cage. Date is looking to break free of the clinch but Hisaki has double underhooks. Date working hard to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Date fails to pull guard.
Hisaki is trying to drag Date to the mat but Date just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Date breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hisaki misses the body punch and Date holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Date tries for a takedown. No joy.
Date is trying to break free. Date looks gassed! Hisaki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Date throws a nice looking combination but Hisaki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Hisaki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Date's guard. Date had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hisaki defends it easily. Hisaki passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hisaki lands strikes from half guard. Date is trying to escape back to his feet but Hisaki uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Hisaki decides to stand up, so the ref orders Date to his feet. Hisaki avoids a punch combination nicely.
Date gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hisaki pushes down on Date's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Date wants to get back to full guard but Hisaki has passed into side control. Hisaki is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Date is trying to escape and Hisaki transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Date is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hisaki! Very nice indeed!
