PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Harry HooHar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harry HooHar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Masters!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

HooHar gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Masters is pressed up against the cage. HooHar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Masters down to the mat. Masters avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Masters scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

HooHar shoots in looking for a takedown. Masters tries to sprawl out of it but HooHar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Masters manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
HooHar moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Ken Masters has been cut.

HooHar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than HooHar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
HooHar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Masters's face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masters avoids a series of strikes thrown by HooHar.
Masters is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Poor strikes thrown by HooHar there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Masters tries to buck HooHar off but he can't manage it.

Masters is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

HooHar swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Masters is now in HooHar's guard. A big mistake from HooHar there, giving up the dominant position!

Masters is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! HooHar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! HooHar has escaped and now he's on top!

HooHar throws a strike but Masters rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Ken Masters's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

HooHar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Masters as he avoids it easily.
Masters stuns HooHar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

HooHar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Masters sprawls well. Masters wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. HooHar gets slowly back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
HooHar takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Ken Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
HooHar looks to land a left hand but Masters moved out of range nicely.

Masters stalks HooHar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into HooHar's face. HooHar staggers backwards, shaken.

The crowd cheers as Masters lands an impressive looking overhand right. HooHar doesn't seem phased though.

and HooHar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Masters won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Masters is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but HooHar has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Masters manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Masters.

HooHar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Masters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
HooHar pushes down on Masters's leg and manages to get into half guard.
HooHar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
HooHar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

HooHar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
HooHar throws a strike but Masters avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

HooHar trying to control the position from guard on top but Masters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
HooHar is looking to work some ground and pound but Masters has wrist control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
HooHar won't allow Masters to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as HooHar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

HooHar postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Masters looks a forlorn figure.
HooHar throwing strikes here but Masters is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Masters manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
HooHar thows a huge punch but Masters dodges it nicely.

Masters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
HooHar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

HooHar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Masters sees it coming and defends easily.

Masters is defending against the submission attempts here by HooHar.
HooHar looks to land a strike but Masters avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
HooHar throws a strike but Masters rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
HooHar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Masters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. HooHar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Masters has control of HooHar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and HooHar regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Masters tries to control but HooHar wriggling away.
HooHar wants to hold on but Masters pushes him away.
Masters moves to back control.

Masters is looking for the choke from the back position but HooHar is controlling his hands well.
HooHar rolls, trying to escape but Masters keeps control of the position.

Masters is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. HooHar knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften HooHar for a finish.
HooHar tries to roll but Masters sticks to his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ken Masters.
I think Masters has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
