Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Aha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Brezhnev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Brezhnev's choice of entrance music: Coheed and Cambria - Devil in Jersey City. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Mikhail Brezhnev enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Aha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikhail Brezhnev! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aha slips a jab from Brezhnev. Aha tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Brezhnev counters with a stiff right hand. Aha closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brezhnev quickly recovers to half guard. Aha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brezhnev keeps working. Brezhnev is defending against the submission attempts here by Aha.
Aha seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aha thows a huge punch but Brezhnev dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brezhnev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Aha. Aha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brezhnev defends it well. Aha not landing any meaningful shots this time. Aha missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Brezhnev tries to roll over but Aha keeps him under control. Aha seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brezhnev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Brezhnev wants to improve his position but Aha is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aha is trying to control. Brezhnev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Aha thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brezhnev's head. Aha is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brezhnev is just riding it out for now. Aha eventually gives up the hold. Brezhnev controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aha is looking to advance position but Brezhnev won't allow it. Aha is looking to take a break and control but Brezhnev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aha throws a strike but Brezhnev avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Aha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Aha wants to stand but Brezhnev has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Aha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brezhnev is keeping the position for now. Aha preventing the sweep. Aha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brezhnev swivels though and keeps the full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brezhnev can do anything to dispel that myth. Aha looking to sit in guard and control but Brezhnev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Aha is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Aha dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Aha doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brezhnev holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Brezhnev pushes Aha back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Aha utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Brezhnev tries to land a knee to the head but Aha blocks with his arms.
Nice body punch from Brezhnev. Aha fails to pull guard.
Brezhnev scores with a shot to the side of Aha's head. Aha jumps guard but Brezhnev stands there with Aha around his waist. Aha gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Aha. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aha working hard to break the clinch. Brezhnev digs a right hand underneath Aha's ribcage. Aha let out a lung full of air as it connected. Aha drags the fight down to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aha is on top in guard.
Aha trying to control but Brezhnev is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aha missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Aha trying to control the position from guard on top but Brezhnev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Aha has gone for a leg lock! Brezhnev slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aha's guard. Brezhnev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Brezhnev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Brezhnev postures up.
Aha is trying to hold Brezhnev in close to prevent damage but Brezhnev has managed to pass into half guard.
Aha wants to control but Brezhnev is keeping busy and won't allow it. Aha is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Aha is pressing down on Brezhnev's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Aha is looking to stand up but Brezhnev isn't so interested in that idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Brezhnev stopping the sweep attempt from Aha. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aha is on top in guard.
Brezhnev is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Aha wants to control from the top but Brezhnev keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mikhail Brezhnev will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Aha has his takedown stuffed enabling Brezhnev to counter with a crisp jab. Brezhnev leaves Aha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Aha shoots and misses and Brezhnev counters with a series of strikes. Aha will be more careful next time no doubt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Aha. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Brezhnev finds it's way through Aha's defenses.
Aha is rocked! A slow jab from Brezhnev misses its intended target. Brezhnev lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Oh Aha is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Aha ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Brezhnev throws a nice looking combination but Aha bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Aha doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brezhnev counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
