Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jaecon Sinton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez has chosen Edge as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaecon Sinton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez clinches with his opponent.
Sinton utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Velasquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sinton tries to avoid it but Velasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sinton to the ground. Sinton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jaecon Sinton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasquez.

Sinton closes the distance and clinches.

Sinton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jaecon Sinton.

Sinton has a closed guard, preventing Velasquez from standing up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sinton pushes Velasquez off and gets back to his feet.

Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sinton sprawls well. Sinton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Velasquez gets slowly back to his feet.

Sinton closes the distance and clinches.
Velasquez tries to pull guard but Sinton holds him up against the cage and eventually Velasquez drops back down to his feet.
Velasquez is trying to break the clinch but Sinton is controlling him.
Sinton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Velasquez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jaecon Sinton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sinton wants to clinch up but Velasquez keeps it at a distance.
Sinton looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A head kick by Velasquez misses
and Sinton counters with a body kick that stops Velasquez in his tracks momentarily.

Sinton takes the fight into the clinch.
Velasquez wants to break free but Sinton has control.
Velasquez looking for a takedown.

Sinton gets control of Velasquez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sinton will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Velasquez throws and elbow that misses. Sinton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Velasquez's guard. Nice move by Sinton!

Sinton stands up and waves to Velasquez to follow him.

Velasquez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sinton manages to avoid it.

Sinton wants to get back to his feet but Velasquez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sinton shoots and misses

and Velasquez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sinton won't be happy with that.
Velasquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sinton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Velasquez wants to stand but Sinton has his arm trapped.

Velasquez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sinton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Velasquez but great work by Sinton.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Velasquez forces Sinton back against the cage and clinches.
Velasquez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Velasquez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sinton has him pressed against the cage.
Sinton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Velasquez fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Velasquez shoots for a takedown but Sinton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Velasquez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sinton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

and Velasquez counters with a shoot takedown. Sinton fights it but they end up in guard.
Velasquez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Velasquez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Velasquez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Velasquez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sinton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Velasquez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Velasquez rushes Sinton and presses him up against the cage.
Velasquez has had enough of the clinch but Sinton keeps him there for the moment.
Velasquez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Velasquez has Sinton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sinton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Sinton lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Velasquez backwards.

Velasquez has Sinton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Velasquez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sinton tumbling to the mat - Velasquez dives into Sinton's guard.

Cain Velasquez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Velasquez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
