Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evander Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rik Spahn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spahn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Slap my elbow kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rik Spahn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Evander Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rik Spahn! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wright tries to pass the half guard into mount. Spahn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spahn can do anything to dispel that myth. Spahn keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Spahn blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wright. Wright trying to control the action but Spahn is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wright tries to pass the half guard into mount. Spahn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Wright is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wright is working for a submission of some sort.
Spahn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Spahn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spahn trying to control here.
Wright seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Wright is trying to control. Spahn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Wright is pressing down on Spahn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Spahn is holding on for now. Wright prevents Spahn from improving his position. Wright content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Evander Wright. Wright throws a wild body kick that Spahn sees coming a mile off. Spahn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wright sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Spahn somewhat. Wright goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Nice takedown defense from Wright. No joy for Spahn on that attempt. Spahn looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Wright working a defensive guard here.
Spahn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Spahn! Wright tries to control but Spahn wriggling away. Spahn is looking to get to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wright wants to control the pace but Spahn is squirming around nicely. Wright is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Spahn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Spahn shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evander Wright dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Spahn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wright drives through with a takedown into guard. Wright wants to control from the top but Spahn keeps moving. Wright has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spahn is proving hard to escape from. Wright passes easily into side control. Nice work. Spahn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wright wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Spahn struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spahn stops Wright from passing to mount. Evander Wright overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wright is looking to take a break and control but Spahn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Spahn tries to buck Wright off but Wright is having none of it. Wright decides to stand back up. Wright steps back and let's Spahn get back to his feet. Spahn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Spahn tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Wright manages to regain half guard. Good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wright gets back to full guard.
Wright is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Spahn has his hands clasped together but Wright extends an breaks Spahn's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Wright.
