Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Bridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Johnson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bridge!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson closes the distance looking to clinch

and Bridge counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
The referee asks Bridge politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bridge prefers to stall for the moment though.
Johnson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bridge is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Bridge wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Bridge.
Johnson blocks a head kick by Bridge.
Bridge tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No joy there for Bridge, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Johnson wants to clinch

and Bridge counters by moving into the clinch.
Bridge has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Johnson throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Johnson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Bridges head.


It looks like John Bridge has been cut.
Johnson controlling the action here for a moment.
Johnson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Bridge tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

and Bridge counters with a takedown into side control.
Johnson trying to remain calm as Bridge controls from the top position.
Johnson pushes Bridge away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bridge gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Johnson tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bridge is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Johnson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Johnson trying to get back to his feet but Bridge is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Bridge dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Bridge's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bridge in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Johnson is pushing Bridge's head away, looking to escape. Bridge manages to hold on to the position though.

Bridge has hold of Johnson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Johnson seems comfortable defending it but Bridge has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Johnson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Johnson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bridge couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Bridge!
John Bridge is the new middleweight champion!
