Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Garret Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilya Porunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Garret Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilya Porunov!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hawk is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Porunov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Porunov has escaped and now he's on top!
Porunov is looking to advance position but Hawk has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Porunov has given up his back.
Porunov manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hawk's guard. Nice work there by Porunov.
Hawk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hawk controlling the position.
Hawk looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawk, not yet.
Porunov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hawk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hawk wants to sweep here but Porunov controlling him for the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Porunov with a flurry of punches that miss.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hawk looking to control.
Porunov wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hawk shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hawk stops Porunov from getting back to his feet.
Porunov is looking to control Hawk's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Porunov avoid being mounted?
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Porunov tries to roll over but Hawk keeps him under control.

Hawk wants to free his trapped foot but Porunov is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ilya Porunov was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hawk enables Porunov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hawk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hawk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Porunov's guard.
Porunov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Porunov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Porunov is looking to take a break and control but Hawk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Porunov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hawk kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Garret Hawk will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hawk gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Porunov to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Porunov has gone for a leg lock! Hawk slips out almost immediately though and dives into Porunov's guard.
Hawk pushes down on Porunov's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hawk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Porunov is trying to control but can't.
Porunov is looking to escape.

Hawk is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Porunov has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hawk is thwarting Porunov's attempts to control the position.
Porunov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hawk's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hawk's back!
Hawk covering up well and avoiding damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Porunov wants to control but Hawk manages to buck him off and is now in Porunov's guard! Nice work there by Hawk!
Porunov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hawk manages to get himself to full guard.
Porunov wanted to stand there but Hawk had control of the position.

Porunov wants to pass the guard but Hawk is keeping the position.
Porunov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hawk's guard.
Porunov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hawk keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Porunov stalling away here and it's allowed Hawk to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Hawk keeping moving, preventing Porunov from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ilya Porunov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Porunov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hawk manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hawk is trying to keep Porunov in close.
Porunov wanted to stand there but Hawk had control of the position.
Hawk is trying to control the position but Porunov postures up.
Porunov trying to control but Hawk is working from the bottom.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ilya Porunov was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Porunov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Porunov showed some decent athleticism there.
Hawk is refusing to be controlled, as Porunov sits in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Porunov is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Porunov is trying to control. Hawk wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Porunov wants to sweep here but Hawk controlling him for the moment.

Hawk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Porunov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawk has Porunov in his guard.

Porunov wants to get up but he can't break Hawk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Porunov wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.
Porunov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ilya Porunov wasn't active enough on the ground.

Porunov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Porunov is trying to control. Hawk wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ilya Porunov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Porunov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
