Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hayato Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Klerk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klerk has chosen Get ready to TAP Aoki! as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hayato Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Klerk!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aoki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Klerk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Klerk is not content to let Aoki control the position.
Aoki throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Aoki wants to control but Klerk is keeping him busy.

Aoki is trying to get an arm triangle but Klerk is defending well.
Klerk is looking to reverse the position.
Aoki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Klerk is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Klerk is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Aoki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Klerk tries to roll over but Aoki keeps him under control.
Aoki is looking to take a break and control but Klerk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Klerk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Klerk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aoki pulls his head out easily.
Klerk is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aoki wants to control but Klerk is keeping him busy.
Klerk is looking for a sweep. Aoki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Aoki trying to mount his opponent but Klerk defends it.

Klerk is defending against the submission attempts here by Aoki.
Klerk tries to get to full guard but Aoki has control of the leg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Klerk looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Aoki thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Aoki is trying to control the action in half guard but Klerk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Aoki tries to pass to full mount but Klerk defends it.
Klerk is trying to get back to full guard.

Klerk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aoki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Aoki passes the guard and advances to mount!
Aoki wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Aoki working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Aoki is breathing heavily.

Klerk tries to hold on but Aoki pushes him away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Klerk keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Aoki looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Klerk tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Aoki looking to control but Klerk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Klerk tries to reverse the position but Aoki maintains control.
Klerk manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Klerk is pressing down on Aoki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Klerk looking for a guillotine here but Aoki defends easily.
Klerk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aoki is one step ahead there.

Klerk working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Aoki has passed into half guard!
Klerk has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aoki is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hayato Aoki dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Klerk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Klerk is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Aoki has escaped the position, nice work there.

Klerk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Klerk avoids the strikes from the bottom by Aoki.

Klerk tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Klerk working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Klerk in side control, throwing shots but Aoki defends.
Klerk tries to score with some ground and pound. Aoki controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Klerk goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Aoki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Klerk but great work by Aoki.
Klerk manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Klerk manages to get to full guard.
Aoki postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Klerk looking for a sweep. Not yet Klerk, not yet.
Aoki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Klerk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aoki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Klerk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Aoki trying to control the position from guard on top but Klerk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Aoki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Klerk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aoki has managed to get both his arms back between Klerk's legs - danger averted.
Aoki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Klerk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Klerk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aoki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Aokiis looking to pass into half guard but Klerk pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Klerk is in guard.
Aoki looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Klerk wants to control from the top but Aoki keeps moving.
Klerk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Aoki is keeping the position for now.

Klerk gets to his feet. Aoki looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Aoki gets caught flat footed, as Klerk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Klerk throws a big right hand that misses.

Klerk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aoki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Klerk has Aoki in his guard.
Klerk has his hands on Aoki's head, controlling the position.
Klerk keeping moving, preventing Aoki from controlling successfully.
Klerk trying to keep a closed guard but Aoki is proving a slippery customer.

Ivan Klerk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Aoki tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Klerk counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Aoki looking to control.

Aoki is looking for a triangle but Klerk pushes his legs off easily.
Klerk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aoki works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Klerk has gone for a leg lock! Aoki slips out almost immediately though and dives into Klerk's guard.

Klerk pushes a forearm under Aoki's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Aoki is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ivan Klerk!
