Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Pentangeli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Pentangeli! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pentangeli shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and James makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pentangeli swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pentangeli shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Pentangeli slips a nice elbow through James's hands, connecting with James's forehead.
That's one minute gone in the round. James keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Pentangeli is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer. Pentangeli wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pentangeli is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Pentangeli passes the guard and advances to mount! Pentangeli thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pentangeli on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pentangeli sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Pentangeli should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Pentangeli prevents James from getting the reversal. James is squirming around, avoiding Pentangeli's attempts to control the action. Pentangeli throws a sloppy strike and James uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and James has ended up in Pentangeli's guard.
Pentangeli wants to stand and escape but James is having none of it. James throws and elbow that misses. Pentangeli uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in James's guard. Nice move by Pentangeli!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pentangeli is fighting to break James's control of his arms but James is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. James keeping moving, preventing Pentangeli from controlling successfully. Pentangeli looking to pass the guard. James is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John James. Pentangeli fails with the takedown and James counters with a shoot takedown. Pentangeli fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pentangeli wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment. Pentangeli keeping full guard, as James tries to pass. James stopping the sweep attempt from Pentangeli. James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Pentangeli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John James dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and James counters with a good low kick that Pentangeli was not able to check. Pentangeli with a nice cross. Pentangeli rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting James counter with a right hand. Pentangeli misses with a jab to the body
and James counters with a nice leg kick. Pentangeli uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by James.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pentangeli misses with a lunging right hand
and James counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pentangeli's knee momentarily. Pentangeli getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Pentangeli throws a lazy uppercut
and James counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Pentangeli misses with a lunging right hand
letting James counter with a right hand. James fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James scores with a leg kick.
James fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pentangeli to the ground. James is now in Pentangeli's guard. Pentangeli striking off his back but it's not causing James any problems. James throws a big right hand that misses. Pentangeli wants to get back to his feet but James is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pentangeli is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. James throws a big right hand that misses. Pentangeli avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pentangeli is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pentangeli wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working. James regains full guard. Nicely done. Pentangeli postures up in James's guard and throws a big left but James blocks it. Pentangeli throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pentangeli trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pentangeli wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position. Pentangeli looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pentangeli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pentangeli is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pentangeli can do anything to dispel that myth. James won't allow Pentangeli to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John James dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Pentangeli misses with a takedown and James counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Pentangeli has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pentangeli can't get the takedown.
John James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Pentangeli. James blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
James dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Pentangeli working aggressively here.

That's one minute gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by John James. Pentangeli throws a sloppy body shot
and Pentangeli takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. James shoots in but no luck this time. James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pentangeli was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pentangeli wriggles free and stands up. James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pentangeli under the eye. Pentangeli tries to clinch and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pentangeli won't be happy with that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James tries for a kimura but Pentangeli is defending well. Pentangeli is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but James has just dragged him back down to the mat. Pentangeli sneaks back into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James moves nicely into side control. James tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. James lands a few punches from side control. Pentangeli wants to control but James postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James decides to stand back up. James steps back and let's Pentangeli get back to his feet. James walks into a straight right hand from Pentangeli. Pentangeli misses with a jab to the body
and James counters with a lovely shot to the body. Pentangeli takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Pentangeli throws a right hand that misses
and James counters with a lovely straight right hand! Frank Pentangeli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James swings widly with a right hand
and Pentangeli counters with a straight right hand.
And that's the end of the fight! John James showed his dominance in that final round. Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
