PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nara Shikamaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodisky Krusklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nara Shikamaru has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nara Shikamaru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rodisky Krusklin!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shikamaru fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Krusklin sprawls well initially but Shikamaru persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Krusklin misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Krusklin is trying to control but can't.
Shikamaru passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Krusklin!
Krusklin tries to hold on but Shikamaru pushes him away.

Shikamaru has control of Krusklin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Krusklin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Krusklin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Krusklin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Shikamaru with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Krusklin throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shikamaru. What's that going to do exactly?
Shikamaru forces the positional change into back control.
Shikamaru avoiding Krusklin 's attempts to control his hands.
Krusklin tries to roll but Shikamaru sticks to his back.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Shikamaru's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Krusklin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Shikamaru's guard. Nice work there by Krusklin.

Krusklin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shikamaru dives on top into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shikamaru trying to control the position from guard on top but Krusklin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Krusklin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shikamaru manages to get himself to full guard.
Krusklin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Krusklin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Krusklin wants to control from the top but Shikamaru keeps moving.
Krusklin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shikamaru is keeping the position for now.
Shikamaru is breathing heavily.
Krusklin postures up in Shikamaru's guard and throws a big left but Shikamaru blocks it.

Krusklin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shikamaru manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Krusklin has Shikamaru in his guard.
Shikamaru wants to control from the top but Krusklin keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krusklin throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Krusklin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shikamaru can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Krusklin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Krusklin controls Shikamaru momentarily but Shikamaru frees himself.
Shikamaru slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Krusklin.
Shikamaru trying to control the action but Krusklin is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krusklin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nara Shikamaru dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Krusklin has managed to clinch.

Krusklin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Krusklin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Shikamaru takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Shikamaru shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
No luck for Shikamaru with that takedown attempt.
Shikamaru takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Nara Shikamaru is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Krusklin scores with a three punch combo!
A lazy left from Krusklin finds it's target.
Krusklin connects with a crisp jab.
Krusklin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shikamaru.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nara Shikamaru. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Krusklin throws a good cross that connects.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good standup being displayed there by Krusklin as he connects with a hook.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Krusklin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shikamaru's head backwards.

Krusklin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Krusklin wants to pass the guard but Shikamaru is keeping the position.

Krusklin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shikamaru is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Krusklin, into his guard.

Krusklin is looking for a triangle here but Shikamaru uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Shikamaru working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Krusklin can't do much from the bottom here.

Krusklin is not content to let Shikamaru control the position.
You can see the frustration on Krusklin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Shikamaru is trying to get an arm triangle but Krusklin is defending well.
Shikamaru is looking to take a break and control but Krusklin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Krusklin sneaks back into half guard.
Krusklin is trying to stand.
Krusklin flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Shikamaru trying to mount his opponent but Krusklin defends it.
Krusklin is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodisky Krusklin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Krusklin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Krusklin throws a one two combo.
Krusklin connects with a looping right hand.

Krusklin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shikamaru looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Shikamaru is trying to control Krusklin's posture but Krusklin avoids it.

Krusklin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Shikamaru is trying to escape and Krusklin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Shikamaru is forced to tap! Nice work there by Krusklin! Very nice indeed!
