The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaard leaves Boyle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Gaard. No joy for Boyle on that attempt.
Gaard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A head kick misses from Boyle.
Gaard throws an overhand right that lands on Boyle's shoulder, as Boyle tries to avoid the shot.
Boyle shoots in for a takedown but Gaard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Boyle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boyle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Boyle throws a head kick that misses.
Gaard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaard avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gaard looks to throw the jab but Boyle is out of range.

Gaard takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A lazy body kick from Boyle
letting Gaard counter with a right hand.
Boyle misses with a takedown attempt - Gaard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boyle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Gaard counters with a crisp right hand that drops Boyle! Gaard lets Boyle back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Boyle is rocked!

It looks like Fred Boyle has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boyle blocks a leg kick.
Gaard misses with a wild combination.
Gaard wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Boyle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gaard manages to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boyle takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Boyle is breathing heavily.
Gaard steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Boyle is out on his feet! Gaard sets himself and nearly takes Boyle's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
