Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ranndy Couture!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Artus Ozols!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture tries for a takedown but Ozols circles away easily
and Ozols counters with an outside leg kick.
Couture drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ozols connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Couture misses with a takedown
and Ozols counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Couture takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Couture gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ozols counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ranndy Couture. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Couture is breathing heavily.
Couture tries for a takedown but Ozols circles away easily
and Ozols counters with a straight right hand.
Ozols jabs Couture right on the nose. Couture blinks but takes it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Couture moves out of range of the leg kick from Ozols.
Ozols misses with a hook.
Ozols connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Couture's hands.
Nice body punch from Ozols.
Ozols lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Couture at a distance.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Couture. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Ozols throws a low kick but Couture avoids it.
Couture takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Ozols takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ozols throws a combination. Couture tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Couture is rocked!
Couture leaves his chin hanging out and Ozols seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Couture crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Artus Ozols!
