Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Petri Pikkarainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: PELIMUSA. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez throws a sloppy head kick

and Pikkarainen counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sanchez!
Sanchez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sanchez regains half guard.

Pikkarainen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pikkarainen.
Sanchez is trying to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pikkarainen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Pikkarainen is working for a submission of some sort.
Pikkarainen is trying to control. Sanchez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pikkarainen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pikkarainen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanchez's head.

Pikkarainen is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pikkarainen to get the leverage.
Pikkarainen tries to pass to full mount but Sanchez defends it.
Pikkarainen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.
Pikkarainen prevents Sanchez from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez is not content to let Pikkarainen control the position.
Pikkarainen is just content to waste time from the top position. Sanchez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Pikkarainen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pikkarainen trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.
Pikkarainen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pikkarainen tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanchez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pikkarainen is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Petri Pikkarainen just wasn't active enough.
Sanchez fails with an attempt to clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanchez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sanchez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pikkarainen's hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petri Pikkarainen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pikkarainen takes a jab right on the kisser.
Pikkarainen fails with the takedown
and Sanchez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sanchez is looking to clinch but Pikkarainen is avoiding it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sanchez. Pikkarainen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Pikkarainen pushes him off.
Sanchez throws a lazy right hand but Pikkarainen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sanchez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pikkarainen.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pikkarainen shoots in and drives through. Sanchez sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petri Pikkarainen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanchez connects with a body shot that sends Pikkarainen's belly button to the back.

and Sanchez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sanchez.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sanchez lands a good knee to the midsection. Pikkarainen won't want to take too many of those.
Pikkarainen goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sanchez prevents it.
Pikkarainen avoiding damage as Sanchez throws knees to the body.
Sanchez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Pikkarainen blocks it with crossed arms.
Sanchez lands a knee to the head.
Pikkarainen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Pikkarainen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanchez smiles and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pikkarainen tries for a takedown but Sanchez circles away easily
and Sanchez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sanchez darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Pikkarainen takes a jab right on the kisser.
Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Pikkarainen pushes him off.
Pikkarainen fails with the takedown
and Sanchez counters with a nice uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

and Sanchez counters with a massive head kick! KABOOM! Pikkarainen is out cold! A devastating KO!
