PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ej Tap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tap has chosen Pop Lock and Drop It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ej Tap is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ej Tap!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tap.
Hughes lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
A big right from Tap misses.
Hughes throws a sloppy head kick and Tap moves out of range easily.
Hughes defending well as Tap loads up on a big left hand.
Hughes tries to clinch but Tap moves away

and Tap counters with a takedown into side control.
Tap trying to control the position but Hughes is working away.
Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tap on the ground.
Tap throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Tap working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Tap scores with a couple of short elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tap misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Tap tries to advance to mount but Hughes denies him.
Hughes is looking to reverse the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Tap missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Tap trying to mount his opponent but Hughes defends it.
Tap is looking to take a break and control but Hughes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, if Tap is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hughes is not content to let Tap control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hughes looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tap throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tap passes to side control.
Tap in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The strikes coming from Tap are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Tap lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Hughes is looking to reverse the position.
Tap working the ground and pound but Hughes is defending the strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tap misses with the ground and pound.
The ground and pound from Tap seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hughes takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tap creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.


Hughes is rocked!
Tap lands a strong strike to the head of Hughes. That's dazed him! Tap looking to finish here. Hughes is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Tap lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ej Tap!
