The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brashear gets caught flat footed, as Clinton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Brashear working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Clinton. Brashear wants to stand up but Clinton is controlling him. Clinton throwing strikes from guard but Brashear blocks nicely. Brashear wants to sweep here but Clinton controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Clinton trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Brashear manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Brashear controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Brashear trying to move into half guard but instead Clinton has managed to sweep!
That's one minute gone in the round. Brashear looking to hit a scissor sweep but Clinton is one step ahead there. Clinton scoring with punches to the head and body. Clinton advances to half guard. Clinton blocks the strikes from Brashear.
Brashear avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Clinton. Brashear is trying to get back to full guard. Clinton is nestled in close to Brashear, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Brashear actively working from the bottom here. Clinton not landing any meaningful shots this time. Clinton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. That's three minutes gone in the round. Clinton lands a couple of elbows. Brashear working for a triangle but Clinton defends it easily.
Clinton throwing strikes from guard but Brashear blocks nicely. Clinton slips nicely into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Clinton is thwarting Brashear's attempts to control the position. Clinton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Brashear is trying to maintain the position but Clinton is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clinton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Clinton lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Brashear is trying to get back to full guard. Clinton lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Brashear quite badly. Brashear pulls Clinton in close trying to recover. Clinton postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Brashear on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Brashear doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
