PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudra Pratap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pratap has chosen Hairat as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter North!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rudra Pratap!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
North throws a sloppy head kick
letting Pratap counter with a right hand.

Pratap gets the takedown into side control.
Pratap taking a breather here.
North knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pratap on the ground.

Pratap decides to take the fight back to the feet.
North lands with a nice combination. Pratap backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Rudra Pratap has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
North tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pratap manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
North slaps away a takedown attempt from Pratap, before circling back to the center of the mat.
North misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

North lands a left and a right that send Pratap crashing to the mat, dazed. North thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Pratap darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pratap decides to stand up.
Pratap looks gassed!
Pratap shoots for a takedown but North saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
North throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Peter North is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A punch combination from North misses.
Pratap throws a head kick but North moves out of range.
North throws a lazy head kick

and Pratap counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Pratap gets control of North's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pratap will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pratap is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
North is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pratap keeping full guard, as North tries to pass.
Pratap is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
North controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
North's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Peter North just wasn't active enough.
North misses with a two punch combination.
A head kick misses from North.
North moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Pratap tries to close the distance and clinch but North swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
North throws a head kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pratap wants to clinch.
Pratap has a takedown stuffed.
Peter North has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudra Pratap.
North fails with an attempt to clinch.
A right-left combo lands from North.


That has opened up Rudra Pratap's cut even more.

North moves into range and clinches up with Pratap.
Pratap has North pressed against the cage, preventing North from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
North tries to break free but Pratap pushes him back against the cage.
North blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pratap jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as North walks away with a smile on his face. Pratap gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
North looks to land a combination but Pratap avoids it well.
North throws a lazy head kick

and Pratap counters with a shoot takedown. North fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pratap with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
North is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pratap is controlling him.
Pratap stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. North swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pratap wants to stand but North has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter North dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rudra Pratap's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


North misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
North defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pratap.
North misses with a two punch combination.
North throws a head kick that misses
and Pratap counters with an outside leg kick.
North throws a head kick that misses.

Pratap clinches up with North and pushes him back against the cage.
North wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pratap tries to pull guard but North holds him up against the cage and eventually Pratap drops back down to his feet.
North working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pratap blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Pratap jumps into guard, dragging North to the mat.
North would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pratap is breathing heavily.
North controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
North pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pratap is keeping the position for now.
Pratap throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
North engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Peter North.
North connects with a body shot.
Pratap moves out of range of the body kick from North.
North swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pratap.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

North lands a left and a right that send Pratap crashing to the mat, dazed. North thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
North connects with a stiff jab that staggers Pratap - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter North!
