PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Miguel Angel has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Angel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Angel moves in looking to clinch but Jitsu pushes him off.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Angel!
Jitsu misses with a wild body shot.
Angel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jitsu swivels and escapes.

Jitsu takes the fight into the clinch.

Angel jumps guard and drags Jitsu to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jitsu controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jitsu with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Jitsu trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jitsu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Angel keeping moving, preventing Jitsu from controlling successfully.

Angel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jitsu escapes and throws Angel's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jitsu stands up and beckons Angel to his feet.
Angel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jitsu keeps the fight on the outside.
Angel misses with a takedown attempt

and Jitsu counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Angel's guard now.

Jitsu decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Angel, up you get!
A head kick misses from Jitsu.

Jitsu shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jitsu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jitsu not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jitsu is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jitsu is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Angel defends it well.
Jitsu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Angel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Angel is looking to control Jitsu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Angel avoid being mounted?

Jitsu stands up and beckons Angel to join him on the feet.
Angel is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jitsu shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Jitsu decides to stand up.
Angel swats away the attempt to clinch by Jitsu.
Jitsu tries to clinch up.

Jitsu moves into the clinch successfully.
Angel changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jitsu fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Angel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Angel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Angel closes the distance but Jitsu moves to the side

and Jitsu counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Angel is working an open guard so Jitsu takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jitsu misses with a wild combination.
Jitsu misses with an uppercut. Angel saw that one coming.
Jitsu misses with a takedown attempt - Angel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Angel is looking to land body kicks.
Angel shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jitsu counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jitsu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jitsu stands up and waves to Angel to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jitsu moves into the clinch successfully.
Jitsu has had enough of the clinch but Angel keeps him there for the moment.

Jitsu jumps into guard, dragging Angel to the mat.
Jitsu lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Angel!
Angel tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Jitsu working for a submission but Angel is keeping him at bay.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jitsu looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jiu Jitsu dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Jitsu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jitsu seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jitsu avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jitsu stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Angel is looking to clinch but Jitsu is avoiding it.
Angel tries to clinch up

and Jitsu counters with a shoot takedown. Angel fights it but they end up in guard.

Jitsu controls from within his opponent's guard.
Jitsu slips nicely into half guard.
Jitsu is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jitsu stands up and beckons Angel to join him on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jitsu scores a takedown into full mount!
Jitsu sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jitsu lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Angel hang on?
Jitsu controlling the position easily from mount.
BOOM! Jitsu connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jitsu looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Jitsu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Jitsu stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Jitsu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jitsu stands up.

Jitsu closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Angel to the mat! Angel manages to get full guard.
Angel being controlled here, momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jitsu advances position into side control!
Jitsu works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Jitsu grinds an elbow into Angel's temple.
Jitsu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Angel is being controlled here.
Jitsu gets to mount! Angel was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Jitsu working the ground and pound effectively.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jitsu is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Angel is forced to tap! Great finish!
