PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between JR Dizon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dizon's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, It's My Life. Nelson has chosen Shut Up by Mindless Self Indulgence as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JR Dizon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dizon gets the takedown into side control.

Dizon is trying to get an arm triangle but Nelson is defending well.
Nelson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Nelson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dizon prevents Nelson from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dizon throwing shots but Nelson is blocking nicely.
Nelson is trying to control but can't.
Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nelson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dizon pulls his head out easily.

Dizon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nelson is just riding it out for now. Dizon eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dizon is really struggling to control Nelson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

and Dizon counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nelson is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Dizon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nelson moves into the clinch.
Dizon has had enough of the clinch but Nelson keeps him there for the moment.

Dizon has hold of one of Nelson's legs. Nelson is fighting the takedown attempt but Dizon gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dizon defends it easily.

JR Dizon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dizon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dizon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nelson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dizon escapes and throws Nelson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Nelson is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dizon is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Dizon lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Nelson misses with a wild combination.
Nelson shoots in but Dizon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
JR Dizon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Nelson.

Dizon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Nelson is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Dizon is staying active.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nelson pushes Dizon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dizon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

No joy there for Dizon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nelson wants to control from the top but Dizon keeps moving.

Nelson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nelson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Nelson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dizon has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dizon is looking for a sweep. Nelson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nelson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nelson wants to control but Dizon is keeping him busy.
Dizon is trying to maintain the position but Nelson is very close to passing his half guard.
Nelson works his foot free and advances to mount.

Nelson throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Dizon has his hands clasped together but Nelson breaks the hold and Dizon is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Nelson!
