Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into the arena with Party in the USA blaring out of the sound system. Joe Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Santana's head. Smith stops Santana from getting back to his feet.
Smith with the ground and pound but Santana uses the opportunity to regain guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santana can do anything to dispel that myth. Santana is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him. Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Smith wants to pass the guard but Santana is keeping the position. Smith is working hard here to advance position. Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Santana is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looking to pass the guard. Santana is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Santana is retaining full guard. Smith stops Santana from standing up. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Santana scores a takedown into full mount! Santana lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Santana closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Santana getting side control. Smith is breathing heavily. Santana decides to stand up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith shoots and misses and Santana counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Santana to acknowledge the strikes. Santana closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Santana stands up and we're back to a striking position. Santana tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Smith prevents Santana from getting back to his feet. Smith with a nice head shot there. Santana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Santana has Smith pulled in close to control his posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Santana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Santana is retaining full guard. Santana pushes Smith off and scrambles back to his feet.
Smith has a takedown stuffed. Santana scores with a takedown into Smith's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom. Santana trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Santana would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Charles Santana was stalling too much, according to the referee. Smith shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Santana throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smith tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Santana is in Smith's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Santana dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Santana shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Santana showed some decent athleticism there. Santana decides to stand up. Smith feints and as Santana raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Santana wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position. Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith gets to his feet - Santana follows without any prompting. Santana with a lazy takedown attempt and Smith counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Charles Santana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Santana counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Santana working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Santana seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Smith punching from the bottom.
Smith tries to roll over but Santana keeps him under control. Santana decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Santana throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and Santana finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santana is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Santana missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Smith manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Santana tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it. Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Santana to score an easy takedown into full guard. Smith wriggles free and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Santana is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith is pushing Santana's head away, looking to escape. Santana manages to hold on to the position though. Santana has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Santana drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots. Smith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santana is keeping the position for now. Santana has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santana is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Santana showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt and Santana counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Smith keeping moving, preventing Santana from controlling successfully. Santana postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Santana wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Santana is proving a slippery customer.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Santana's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Smith wants to stand and escape but Santana is having none of it. Santana decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Santana scores a takedown into full mount! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith tries to hold on but Santana pushes him away. Smith is in a horrible position here. Santana smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Smith gets back to half guard. Smith is staying active underneath Santana, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Charles Santana has got the better of the ground game so far. Smith is looking for a sweep. Santana is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Smith wants to control but Santana is keeping busy and won't allow it. Santana landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Santana lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Santana slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santana pulls his head out easily. Smith missing with punches from the bottom.
Santana gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Smith tries to control but Santana wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith lands a big elbow. Santana really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time. Santana tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Smith with shots to the head and body - Santana looks very uncomfortable down there. Joe Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Smith landing punches. BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Smith is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Smith lands a big shot there that rocks Santana but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Santana is trying to stand up. Santana wants to control but Smith is having none of it. Smith throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Charles Santana comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Santana has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
