Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Hanks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as John Fisher enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Hanks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Fisher!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanks misses with a head kick.

Hanks tries to keep at a distance but Fisher has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hanks is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fisher is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hanks to the mat. Hanks regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher controls from within his opponent's guard.

Hanks throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fisher trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hanks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fisher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fisher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hanks is on top in guard.

Hanks drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Fisher dives on top into guard.

Fisher decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Antonio Hanks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hanks throws a combination. Fisher tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fisher throws a head kick that Hanks semi-blocks.
Hanks misses with a takedown attempt
and Fisher counters with a three punch combo that has Hanks backing up. Hanks nods at Fisher to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Fisher feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hanks is breathing heavily.

Hanks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fisher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fisher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hanks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fisher is in close to Hanks's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Hanks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fisher gets to his feet - Hanks follows without any prompting.

Fisher rushes Hanks and presses him up against the cage.

Fisher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Fisher breaks from the clinch.

Fisher looking to score a takedown here. Hanks is defending well but Fisher drives through and ends up in Hanks's guard.

Fisher stays in close to Hanks's body and controls the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Fisher tries to free his leg and advance position but Hanks is retaining full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Fisher wasn't active enough on the ground.

Hanks scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hanks is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fisher is looking to escape.

Hanks is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Fisher has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hanks is working away from the top position though.
Fisher makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fisher.

Hanks has gone for a leg lock! Fisher slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hanks's guard.

Hanks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fisher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hanks is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fisher defends well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Fisher's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Fisher trying to control but Hanks is working from the bottom.
Fisher not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John Fisher dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hanks lands a head kick. Fisher smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Fisher clinches up with Hanks and pushes him back against the cage.

Fisher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Left hook, right uppercut from Fisher.
Hanks misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hanks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Fisher counters with a nice body shot.

Fisher moves into the clinch.

Fisher has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hanks uses from the top position.

Hanks postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fisher is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hanks, into his guard.

Hanks has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fisher is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hanks.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fisher lands a heavy elbow.

Fisher looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
BOOM! Fisher connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Fisher trying to control but Hanks is having none of it.
Fisher lands with some strikes.
Fisher controlling his opponent.
Hanks keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fisher takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fisher lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Hanks bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Hanks prevents Fisher from getting back to his feet.

Fisher is adopting a defensive guard.

Hanks is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fisher is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fisher has escaped and now he's on top!

Fisher content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hanks pushes a forearm under Fisher's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Fisher is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
