PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timmy Wesley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Mytsyno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wesley comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Go to Sleep. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mytsyno's choice of entrance music: Rev Theory - Voices. On his way into the cage it seems that Timmy Wesley has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Timmy Wesley seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timmy Wesley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ed Mytsyno!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wesley scores with a body shot.
Wesley dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wesley misses with a body punch
and Mytsyno counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wesley ducks under a wild hook from Mytsyno.
Mytsyno showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wesley.
Wesley rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mytsyno counters with a straight right hand.
Wesley throws a right hand that misses

so Mytsyno counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mytsyno tries to free his leg and advance position but Wesley is retaining full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wesley has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mytsyno has passed into side control.
Mytsyno remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wesley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mytsyno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mytsyno is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Wesley's shoulder. That is not cool.

Ed Mytsyno has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Mytsyno is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wesley.
Wesley throws a right hand that misses
and Wesley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wesley misses with an uppercut
and Mytsyno connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Timmy Wesley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mytsyno looks to land a right hand but Wesley moved out of range.
Wesley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wesley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Wesley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mytsyno avoids the body shot from Wesley.
Wesley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mytsyno counters with a shoot takedown. Wesley fights it but they end up in guard.
Mytsyno trying to control the position from guard on top but Wesley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mytsyno is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Mytsyno has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mytsyno is looking to advance position but Wesley has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mytsyno ducks right into an uppercut from Wesley.
Wesley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Mytsyno counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mytsyno.
Wesley controls Mytsyno momentarily but Mytsyno frees himself.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wesley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mytsyno circles away quickly and effectively.

and Mytsyno counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wesley won't be happy with that.

Ed Mytsyno has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mytsyno takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Mytsyno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and Mytsyno counters with a nice uppercut.
Mytsyno might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Mytsyno closes the distance and clinches up with Wesley, looking for a takedown. Mytsyno pushes Wesley against the cage but Wesley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mytsyno manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wesley on his heels. He'll look to pass Wesley's guard now, I'm sure.

Mytsyno uses his free foot to push down on Wesley's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wesley.

Mytsyno wants to control the pace but Wesley is squirming around nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mytsyno has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Wesley's face.

Wesley is desperately trying to improve his position but Mytsyno has a good base and remains in mount.
Ed Mytsyno is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mytsyno takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wesley can't escape the position.

Mytsyno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wesley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mytsyno is aware though and is defending well.

Ed Mytsyno comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mytsyno has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
